General practitioners hold the health of rural South Australians in their hands
We all know that rural General Practice holds the health of South Australia’s rural communities in their hands.
This year’s RDWA Conference will bring together rural GPs, registrars, students, practice managers, and staff from Divisions and Networks to hear about the great work in rural health, education, clinical practice and the business of general practice.
The key note speakers at the RDWA Conference will stimulate your thinking and there will be some special announcements about rural research opportunities!
First, Dr Ken Milne will get attendees thinking about how much of their work is leading edge in comprehensive primary health care practice, and talk about his own experience in publishing rural medical practice from his home in Canada. Ken is a fabulous energetic speaker who will leave you inspired.
And back home, Professor Graeme Hugo, an author of over 300 books will discuss rural Australia’s changing population. Graeme is one of Australia’s leading authorities in population geography and demography.
Professor Dennis McDermott is a Koori psychologist, academic and poet, and is Director of the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health and Well-Being at Flinders University. Dennis will talk in detail about Indigenous Health, and his presentations leave audiences wanting more of his unique perspective and insight.
Dr Ian Cameron is a member of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equality Council, advising the Minister on ways to improve the health of Aboriginal people. Ian will discuss the differences between cultural awareness, cultural competence and cultural safety in the context of Aboriginal health.
Concurrent sessions follow the key note speakers, providing a plethora of innovative topics and presentations.
