			<title>medSPACE Set: UMAT Preparation Workshop</title>

&lt;p&gt;The workshops will provide students with an overview of the   Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT), tips   on how to approach multiple choice tests and time management strategies.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;South Australian rural origin high school students who are completing Year 12 in 2012&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;South Australian rural origin applicants eligible to apply for   medicine in the 2013 university intake (eg. through tertiary transfer,   students who have taken a gap year, etc)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;It is expected that these students will register with the &lt;strong&gt;&lt;a title=&quot;Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER)&quot; href=&quot;http://umatweb.acer.edu.au/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER)&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; to sit the UMAT in 2012 once registrations open. &lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Improve knowledge of aboriginal health issues and cultural safety for GP's. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Identify strategies to achieve successful self-management skills and work/life balance.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Develop strategies to ensure effective communication skills for living and working in Australia.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Improve knowledge of the services of the Rural Doctors Workforce Agency and Fellowship support.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Increase knowledge of sexual and cross cultural health for women in a primary care setting.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Increase patient safety through identification of best practice guidelines around effective history taking and documentation.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;This program is open to IMGs who have arrived in Australia in the past 12 months.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Orientation Weekend is recognised by the RACGP QA &amp;amp; CPD and ACRRM PDP Programs (point allocation is not guaranteed and is subject to review by RACGP and ACRRM). &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The Orientation Weekend is fully funded by the Rural Doctors Workforce Agency through the State Department of Health. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Accommodation is provided by the RDWA for the doctor and their spouse for two nights (Friday and Saturday), as well as breakfast.
