medSPACE Set
For Senior Secondary Students
One of the key requirements for being considered for medical school is completion of the Undergraduate Medical Admissions Test (or UMAT).
RDWA’s medSPACE Set program is for students in year 12 who have a rural background and provides you with a comprehensive one-day UMAT preparation workshop in one of three locations, Whyalla, Mt Gambier or Adelaide. medSPACE Set can also be attended by rural origin students who can apply for medicine by tertiary transfer or students who have completed year 12 and have taken a gap year. Year 11 students can apply and will be offered places if space permits.
The only thing you need to apply for medSPACE Set is to have registered with the Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER) to sit the UMAT and be a student who lived in rural SA.
The workshops give students an overview of the UMAT, discuss non verbal and logical reasoning, problem solving, working with people and time management.
The workshops are held in rural locations and in Adelaide so as many rural students as possible can attend during late May and early June.
The workshop is run by MedEntry and there is no cost to rural kids – the RDWA covers all those costs.
And there is more. If you are offered an oral assessment as part of a medicine school admissions process and you have attended an RDWA UMAT workshop, you may be eligible for a small subsidy to use towards preparing for this stage. Please view the subsidy eligibility guidelines or contact us for more information.
