Medical Students
The RDWA runs a huge medical student program each year so medical students can experience all that rural and remote medicine offers.
Our medical student program is part of medSPACE Ready, Set, Go.
medSPACE Go is for students during their time at medical school. It includes everything from small scholarships to help with the cost of preparing for the GAMSAT to arranging for students to take part in the Royal Flying Doctor Service clinic flights.
We work with the rural health clubs at all three universities and provide opportunity for students across health disciplines with the support of SA’s rural GPs who give their time to teaching and training medical students.
Our RDWA medical students activities throughout the year include:
- Being part of the Royal Flying Doctor Service flights to remote South Australia
- A rural clinical skills obstetrics workshop
- A clinical skills weekend in Quorn
- Clinical skills weekend in Mount Gambier
- A weekend clinical skills weekend in the Riverland
- Do it all... Go Rural GP - Rural GP Career Evening
- A Bringing Cultures Together field trip
This program is a fabulous complement to the rural exposure provided by the universities.
