The Boston Bay Family Health Practice is seeking to recruit one full-time or part-time GP with either obstetrics or anaesthetics to join this new family health Practice.

The Practice
Boston Bay Family Health Practice currently staffs one full-time GP, with interests in rural general practice, obstetrics, anaesthetics, mental health, adolescent health and surgery.
The culture of the Practice is patient focussed, informal and relaxed. The primary aim of the Practice is to improve patient quality of life through whatever medical, health or counselling measures are deemed appropriate.
The staffing at the Boston Bay Family Health Practice is based on team arrangements. All nursing and administration staff is considered equally important as the medical practitioners in providing care and services for patients. A full time Practice Nurse is employed to support the GP.
The main services provided by the Practice include emergency medicine, mental health, obstetrics, paediatrics, and procedural services in anaesthetics, surgery and obstetrics.
The Practice operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm and sometimes Saturday 9.30am to 1.00pm. On the occasion one evening a week if considered beneficial or necessary, but this has yet to be established.
After hours commitments are based on a community roster, shared by 14 doctors and entails approximately one weekend day in every 4 weeks, and one week night every 4 weeks. Other commitments include a private obstetric roster (i.e. is responsible for own patients) with a back-up obstetric roster through the hospital. All doctors in the town are expected to be on an emergency roster, with all obstetrics expected to be on back-up roster, which is usually one week in seven.
Leave arrangements will be as personally required and arranged in liaison with the other staff in the Practice.
Discover Port Lincoln

Port Lincoln is located on the Eyre Peninsula and is a rural city with a population of 17,000 people. It can be accessed by flight from Adelaide within 50mins or can be reached by car in seven hours. A ferry service also operates from Wallaroo to Lucky Bay. The rural centre has a relaxed informal lifestyle in a stunning region of South Australia.
Port Lincoln has a thriving aquaculture and fishing industry, as well as a large tourist population. The primary industries include the production of lambs wool, beef, cereal crops, tuna, prawns, lobster, abalone and scale fish are the major fishing and aquaculture industries.
Other medical facilities in the town are a 12 doctor practice, a 3 doctor practice, allied health practices – private and hospital based. The local hospital provides a large range of medical and allied health services and has been designated to become a regional hospital over the next few years with associated increase in services. GPs look after their own patients in hospital, and together with the other GPs in town they manage services at the hospital. Specialist support is provided by a resident Surgeon and Physician.
School facilities include four kindergartens, three public primary schools, one public high school, a private Catholic school from reception to Year 12 and a newly developed private Lutheran school to Year 7. TAFE also has a facility in Port Lincoln for further learning. Port Lincoln also has a range of sporting and cultural activities available from water based activities through to hill walking, cycling, football, bowling, tennis, hockey, netball and soccer. With many sheltered bays and over 40 islands, Lower Eyre Peninsula is a paradise for all types of vessels; from a small “tinny” to large cruisers and yachts.
