The Practice
Medgate Medical Centre is a well-established, accredited practice that is committed to provide quality healthcare.
Currently the practice employs two full-time General Practitioners, one part-time General Practitioner, a Registrar, Medical Students and a full-time Registered Nurse. Administration consists of Business Manager, a full-time Practice Manager, and reception staff.
The practice provides complete medical care for all age group patients, including acute, chronic and preventative care. Services provided include all aspects of general practice in a rural setting, including in-patient care of hospital and nursing home patients. No proceduralist work except for minor surgical procedures.
Medgate Medical Centres operating hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The local Whyalla Hospital provides an after-hours service through an on-call duty roster that the local GPs participate in. The average roster per GP is 2 to 3 on-call duties per month.
An attractive remuneration package is available.
The Doctor will receive four weeks annual leave, two weeks personal/carers/sick leave, two weeks study leave per annum. All leave is unpaid.
Discover Whyalla

Whyalla is situated 450km north of Adelaide on the Spencer Gulf and has a population of approximately 24,000. The main industry is mining and steelworks. It is a very multi-cultural, large regional centre outside of Adelaide in South Australia.
Within the region there is one large Hospital and four aged care homes. Whyalla also has 10 other practice, totalling 16 doctors in the region. Specialist support is available in surgery, obstetrics, adult medicine, anaesthetics and orthopaedics. Multi-disciplinary Allied Health support is also available.
A large shopping complex provides all necessities for living needs. The town is expanding with new housing complexes being built and available for purchase/rent, etc.
Whyalla has seven public primary schools, three private primary schools, three public high schools and one private high school. There is also a University and TAFE college.
All sport is played in the region with facilities at the Council Leisure Centre, including a pool, spa, weights and exercise equipment.
Port Augusta and Port Lincoln are the nearest of the larger towns to Whyalla.
