Professional Support
The rural doctor workforce in South Australia has plenty of opportunities to access a wide range of activities that contribute to enhancing and upgrading knowledge and skills.
The RDWA offers tailored services to our resident doctors. We focus on the professional needs that the workforce has to enable people to continue to undertake their roles with a strong sense of support and inclusion.
The RDWA’s professional development programs are accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Regional and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

Professional Support Programs
Our EduCARE programs support the specific needs of International Medical Graduates who are in the early years of working in rural South Australia.
The annual RDWA Conference is a great opportunity for professional support, networking and for hearing from key people speaking about topical issues. We know that medical families need some time out too; so there is a great family program running alongside the Professional Conference Program.
The RDWA Professional Support Programs are generally at no cost to the participant. Where there is a cost, the RDWA's Professional Support Subsidy is available for eligible doctors.
Clinical placement or clinical assessment can be facilitated for those times where doctors identify particular clinical needs, including upskilling and assessment. The RDWA has strong links with the metropolitan hospitals and will support you to achieve the clinical aims you seek. You can contact us anytime to discuss your particular requirements.
Fellowship support program for international medical graduates prepares you for the requirements of Fellowship of either ACRRM or RACGP. Our program is tailored to identify your specific needs and to enable us to develop an individual learning plan with you so you can confidently undertake and achieve the requirements of Fellowship.
RESP the RDWA's Rural Emergency Skills Program is highly respected and in strong demand throughout rural SA. The RDWA partners with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and LearnEM who deliver this high quality emergency medicine program that supports doctors to maintain their skills and credentials in emergency medicine in 10 rural locations each year.
Our Trauma Management Program with the Royal Adelaide Hospital provides practical experience and theoretical knowledge on early trauma management.
