Rural Emergency Skills Program - Fetal Surveillance Education Program

The Fetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP) is a one-day workshop delivered by RANZCOG that aims to reduce the risks of adverse perinatal outcome by improving professional levels of understanding and confidence in fetal surveillance.

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the FSEP session, you will be able to:

  • Appreciate the importance of fetal and utero-placental physiology in interpreting CTGs
  • Have an improved understanding of the physiological genesis of the fetal heart rate and its patterns
  • Have improved ability to interpret the CTG trace (normal and abnormal), using a physiological approach
  • Have improved capacity to respond appropriately to potential fetal compromise
  • Have improved confidence in interpreting and managing antenatal and intrapartum CTGs
  • Have improved awareness of the resources available to assist in CTG interpretation and management
  • Consider implementing an ongoing, multidisciplinary review of intrapartum CTGs in your health care facility


RACGP & ACRRM CPD Program – For GP Obstetricians

Attendance by RACGP and ACRRM CPD participants is pending approval for 6.5 CPD hours:

  • 3 hours Educational Activities
  • 2 hours Outcome Measurement
  • 1.5 hours Performance Review

Attendance by RANZCOG CPD participants is approved for 6.5 CPD hours.
