Towards Fellowship Program

RDWA provides extensive support for South Australia’s rural GPs, RGs and GP Registrars on a pre-fellowship or fellowship pathway.

The Towards Fellowship Program offers educational activities and support, along with opportunities for doctors advancing towards fellowship to connect with their rural colleagues in South Australia.

Program activities include:

  • Orientation and clinical reasoning workshops
  • Online modules
  • Quarterly clinical education workshops
  • Exam preparation support
  • Access to medical educator advice
  • Fortnightly webinars led by experienced GP educators, supported by online resources

As of 1 July 2025, the education and support services previously delivered by AOGP transitioned to RDWA into the Towards Fellowship Program ensuring continuity for doctors working towards Fellowship in rural South Australia.

The CPD Travel Subsidy provides additional support to attend eligible events.

Sexual Health, Addiction and Practical Skills Workshop

The next Quarterly Professional Development Workshop includes sessions on:

  • Sexual Health presented by Dr Tessa Moody, Shine SA
  • Addiction presented by Dr Mark Fuller, Drug and Alcohol Services SA
  • Hands-on skills delivered by medical educators

Accreditation: Educational Activity and Reviewing Performance CPD.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for the Towards Fellowship Program if you:

  • Are a doctor working in general practice in a rural South Australian location (MM2-7)
  • Do not hold Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Are enrolled on a Fellowship pathway with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
  • Are on a pre-fellowship pathway or intending to apply for a Fellowship pathway when eligible.

You can join the program at any point of your Fellowship training.

AGPT Registrars can discuss with RDWA whether the Towards Fellowship Program would complement their training program.
