The RDWA recognises the professional and personal development needs of the partners and spouses of resident GPs.
The RDWA offers grants of up to $3,000 to support partners and spouses to develop career or business opportunities, or to assist in study, professional development or personal development.
Grant funds can be used towards the cost of study or training expenses such as course fees, reference materials, associated travel or accommodation. Grants rounds will run four times per financial year.
Applicants should intend to remain resident in their current rural location for at least two years, and are not required to be employed currently to apply for the grant. Applicants will be asked to describe in detail how they intend to use a grant, and how receiving a grant would support them to remain living in rural SA. Training that would be provided by an employer is not eligible for a grant. Priority will be given to applicants whose opportunities are limited by distance, and who have not received a spouse grant previously.
The partner/spouses of Registrars may be eligible to apply if the Registrar intends to take up rural practise within the next 6 months.
Round two of the Resident Rural GP Partner/Spouse Grant will be opening soon.
Applicants should be aware that the RDWA will publish the names of grant recipients.
