R2R Medicine GP Obstetrics Clinical Skills Experience

RDWA’s R2R Medicine GP Obstetrics Clinical Skills Experience is a valuable and immersive experience for final year medical students from University of Adelaide and Flinders University who are considering their options for a rural generalist career in South Australia.

During an interactive and hands-on clinical skills weekend, students will work closely with GP Obstetricians who will demonstrate their role in a rural setting, and lead student participation in a range of simulated and clinical skills stations.

This event delivers a diverse and contemporary experience with experienced rural generalists Dr Kris Bascomb, Dr Sam Olaiya and Dr Kay Ajao.

Clinical activities take place in Port Lincoln at Adelaide Rural Clinical School, Port Lincoln Health Service, and Boston Bay Family Health Practice. Social experiences include visiting Coffin Bay, approximately 40 minutes from Port Lincoln.

This experience is fully funded by RDWA and includes flights, accommodation, meals, and social experiences.

All sites are disability access compliant.

Eligibility 

This experience is available to 2024 final year medicine students at the University of Adelaide and Flinders University who are studying either

  • Doctor of Medicine, Finders University, or 
  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, University of Adelaide 

There are 12 places available for students from each university.
