R2R Medicine Rural GP Obstetrics Experience

Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April 2023, Port Lincoln.

RDWA’s R2R Medicine Rural GP Obstetrics Clinical Skills Experience is an immersive experience for University of Adelaide and Flinders University final year medicine students who are considering their options for a rural generalist career in South Australia.

About the Program

The weekend is hosted by GP Obstetricians Dr Kris Bascomb and Dr Paula Kitto. This event will showcase the diversity of rural general practice, provide opportunities for networking with rural generalists and rural generalist obstetrics to give you firsthand experience in obstetric clinical skills in a rural setting.

Successful applicants will take part in a full weekend of activities fully funded by RDWA. Students will fly on a commercial flight to Port Lincoln, for activities in the Port Lincoln and local area, and clinical activities and case discussions at Port Lincoln Hospital.

Students will stay at the Port Lincoln Hotel and attend a hosted dinner, then continue with community and clinical activities from first thing Sunday morning, returning to Adelaide by plane Sunday evening.
All sites are disability access compliant.

Eligibility

This invitation is only available to 2023 final year medicine students at the University of Adelaide and Flinders University. There are 12 places available for students from each university. If there are more applicants than places available, RDWA will select for a place based on an applicant’s answer about their intention to seriously consider a rural generalist career in SA and meet all other eligibility criteria.
