Dynamic team of VR GPs looking for a GP Obstetrician to join coastal practice

A full time GP Obstetric position serving the fishing, farming and surfing community in the seaside town of Ceduna is now on offer to a Proceduralist passionate about rural, remote and Aboriginal health.

Supported by a full range of visiting specialists, this diverse role joins an experienced team of local VR GPs. You’ll love the lifestyle, the people and the location.

Ceduna is a Distribution Priority Area and a location that is included in the Five-Year OTD Scheme.

The Role

This full time GP Obstetric position provides GP and Obstetric services to both the Ceduna Family Practice and the recently redeveloped Ceduna Hospital, giving you the opportunity to practise a wide range of medicine.

Standard work hours for consultations are Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm, with rounds at the Hospital 8:30am – 9am each morning.

Emergency on call services to the Ceduna Hospital is shared with the team.

GPs in Ceduna can use the SAVES virtual emergency service to support triage level 3, 4 and 5 presentations.

Essential Criteria

  • Vocationally Registered
  • DRANZCOG Advanced
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Experience in Obstetrics
  • Experience in Emergency medicine
  • Cultural competence working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People

The Practice   

Supported by a great practice team, you will enjoy the modern facility which attracts a full range of visiting specialist and allied health services, including:

  • Gerontologist
  • Ear, Nose and Throat specialists.

Recently redeveloped, the fully equipped 35 bed hospital provides general medical and surgical services, Obstetrics, Accident and Emergency (A&E) and Dialysis. Acute Mental Health services are provided through the A&E service and ongoing management through Community Health Mental Health Team.

The Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, Yadu Health, is co-located with the Hospital and employs one GP who participates in the hospital on-call roster.

Ceduna is serviced by two (2) schools, and a Kindergarten and Childcare centre. Ceduna Area School takes students from Reception to Year 12, while Crossways Lutheran School is a private school facility that caters to students from Early Learning to Year 10.
