Flinders Avenue Surgery

The Position

Whyalla is a rural township with a friendly and welcoming community environment. The busy Flinders Avenue Surgery in Whyalla Stuart, have two opportunities available for full time rural VR General Practitioners. Working with a team of supportive and knowledgeable staff, this role will combine emergency medicine with rural general practice. The successful applicant will provide medical services to the Whyalla Hospital and Health Services, and participate in the emergency on call roaster.

Excellent remuneration, support and other incentives are included in the package.

Whyalla is a Distribution Priority Area.

The Practice

The practice provides high quality community-based healthcare services to the community of Whyalla. Flinders Avenue Surgery is currently staffed by one full-time GP, Practice Nurse, Practice Manager and two medical Receptionists who provide the community with a range of care including immunisations for children and adults, health assessments, care plans for patients with diabetes, asthma and mental health needs, counselling, Indigenous health, geriatric care, minor surgeries, Obstetric Shared Care and Women’s Health.

The Community

The city of Whyalla is located on the east coast of the Eyre Peninsula, 396km north-west of Adelaide on the Spencer Gulf, 77km south of Port Augusta. It is the largest industrial city in regional South Australia including manufacturing, agriculture and fishing industries.

Whyalla is the third largest city in South Australia and has a population of nearly 22,000.
