The experienced team at Hawkins Medical Practice are looking for a full or part time GP Obstetrician to join their practice in the regional city of Mount Gambier.

Supported by a full range of visiting specialists and experienced practice staff, this role offers diversity, fantastic work-life balance and a delightful country lifestyle amongst the lush farmland in the state’s South East.

Mount Gambier is a Distribution Priority Area. The Mt Gambier and Districts Hospital is a general country hospital in SA, providing the local population excellent access to acute care.

The Role

Providing GP and Obstetric services to both the Hawkins Medical Clinic and the Mt Gambier and Districts Hospital, you will have the opportunity to practice a wide range of rural medicine in this full or part time role.

Standard work hours include up to 9 sessions per week during consulting hours, with the option to offer general practice consultations on days rostered for Obstetrics on call services to the Mt Gambier and Districts Hospital. The roster is shared with a team of local GP Obstetricians.

An accredited teaching practice, you will have the opportunity to supervise medical students and registrars.

Essential Criteria

• Vocationally Registered
• DRANZCOG Advanced
• MBBS or equivalent
• Experience in Obstetrics
• Ability to gain credentials as a General Practitioner in the clinical domain of GP Obstetrics

Recently redeveloped, the fully equipped hospital provides general medical and surgical services, Obstetrics, Accident and Emergency (A&E) and Dialysis. Acute Mental Health services are provided through the A&E service and ongoing management through Community Health Mental Health Team.

Numerous other specialists are available locally in Mt Gambier including Gynaecologists, General Surgeons, Physicians, Ophthalmologists, Orthopaedic Surgeons, ENT, Renal Physician and Respiratory Physician.

Local industry ranges from primary industries, such as timber and forestry, wineries, agriculture, fishing and transport.
