The Positions

Do you want a unique opportunity to make a difference to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Port Augusta and surrounding communities? The Pika Wiya Health Service is looking to employ two experienced VR General Practitioners who are able to provide 10 sessions per week each, no on call or weekend work required.

Port Augusta is a Distribution Priority Area and is a location included in the Five Year OTD Scheme.

The Practice

PWHSAC is a Community Controlled Aboriginal Health service that provides high quality community-based healthcare to meet the health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Port Augusta and surrounding communities including Davenport, Copley, Nepabunna and Leigh Creek.

The service provides a culturally appropriate service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, addressing prevention, promotion of good health and treatment of illness, and aims to achieve quality of life equal with all Australians.

The Community

Port Augusta is uniquely located on the Spencer Gulf, 322kms north of Adelaide, with the Flinders Ranges providing a spectacular backdrop.

Port Augusta is the fifth largest city in South Australia with a population of 14,000. There are approximately 3,500 families with children 15 years and under.
