Opportunity to work in a new practice in the picturesque Flinders Ranges

Two full time VR or non-VR positions in the historic township of Quorn, gateway to the spectacular Flinders Rangers, are now available for GPs passionate about rural healthcare.

Quorn is a Distribution Priority Area and a location that is included in the Five-Year OTD Scheme, as well as being part of the SAVES virtual emergency service network through the local public hospital.

The Role

These full time VR or non-VR positions offer experienced GPs the opportunity to practise a wide range of medicine at the practice, Quorn Medical Practice, and the Quorn & District Memorial Hospital with the option of working at the nearby Port Augusta Hospital.  Rural proceduralists have the option of providing care in both Quorn and Port Augusta.

As an accredited training practice, you will also have the chance to supervise registrars and medical students.

Standard work hours include 10 sessions per week during consulting hours, Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 5.30pm. The after hours on call services to the Quorn & District Memorial Hospital are shared as part of a 1:2 roster.

Essential Criteria

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • General Practice and emergency medicine experience
  • Credentials as a General Practitioner in the clinical domain of GP Medicine (emergency medicine) or the ability to gain credentials, for the Quorn Health Service..

A postgraduate qualification relevant to general practice (e.g. Diploma of Child Health) or extended skills in clinical radiography for rural general practice, anaesthetics, Aboriginal Health, mental health or palliative care is desirable, but not essential.

Owned and operated by Country and Outback Health (COBH), a South Australian non-for-profit organisation, the Quorn Medical Practice opens in November 2022. Supported by a great practice team, you will enjoy a refurbished facility which attracts a full range of visiting specialist and allied health services, including:

Co-located with the practice, Quorn Health Service (Quorn & District Memorial Hospital), a multipurpose service hospital with combination of 6 acute beds and 12 aged care beds, provides:

Located in the picturesque Flinders Ranges, the district is known for tourism, farming and as a filming location.

The Heysen Trail and the Mawson Trail, a pair of long-distance trails dedicated respectively to walking and cycling, pass through the historic township and there are many bushwalks and four-wheel drive tracks.

Quorn Area School provides quality education to students from reception to year 12, with private school facilities at the nearest regional centre in Port Augusta.
