Stimulating role for a GP Anaesthetist in a new, purpose built clinic on the coast

A full time GP Anaesthetist position in the beautiful coastal city of Port Lincoln is now available for a Proceduralist passionate about rural healthcare.

Joining an experienced local team of resident rural Proceduralists and VR GPs, this diverse role provides the ideal opportunity to practise patient centred medicine. Supported by a full range of visiting specialists, this is a unique opportunity to practice in a busy clinic while living on a world renowned stretch of pristine coastline.

Port Lincoln is a Distribution Priority Area and a location that is included in the Five-Year OTD Scheme.

The Role

This full time GP Anaesthetist position provides GP and Anaesthetic services to both the Investigator Clinic and the recently redeveloped fully equipped Port Lincoln Hospital, giving you the opportunity to practise a wide range of medicine.

Investigator Clinic is an accredited teaching practice, providing you with the opportunity to supervise registrars.

Standard work hours include up to 9 sessions each week, consulting Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm with one planned afternoon off per week and rotational Saturdays 8.30am – 11.30am.

Providing inpatient care for patients admitted into the Port Lincoln Hospital and approximately 4 – 8 elective Anaesthetic sessions a month, you will also provide on call and emergency after hours medical and anaesthetic services to the hospital as part of a shared roster with other GP’s, GP Anaesthetists and GP Obstetricians.

Essential Criteria

  • Specialist or General Registration with AHPRA
  • Vocationally Registered
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Recent General Practice experience
  • Experience in adult, obstetric and paediatric anaesthesia
  • Experience in Emergency medicine
  • Ability to gain credentials as a Medical Practitioner in the clinical domain of GP Anaesthesia (general, epidural, regional, sedation, spinal, 7 years and over)

Post graduate qualifications relevant to general practice and advanced skills in Anaesthetics is desirable, but not essential.
