Health Workforce Scholarship Program

Do you want to improve access to health services for your community?

If you are a health care professional working in primary care in rural or remote South Australia, RDWA can help you reach your goals.

The Health Workforce Scholarship Program can support you to improve access to health care services in your community through training or study to increase your clinical skills and scope of practice.

Applications are now open for eligible health professionals to apply for a grant of up to $10,000 through the Health Workforce Scholarship Program.

Who is eligible to apply?

Health professionals practising in the fields of medicine, nursing or allied health (including Aboriginal Health Workers) who provide primary care services to MMM 3-7 rural and remote communities are eligible to apply.

General Practitioners, mental health professionals and health professionals working in Aboriginal Health Services or in service provision to Aboriginal people have been identified as priorities for this Program.

What types of activities will be supported?

Post-graduate studies, short courses, training workshops and attendance at conferences relevant to your health discipline can be supported. Costs for travel, accommodation and course fees can be supported through the program.

All activities supported through a scholarship and bursary need to be completed by 31 December 2020.

What do I need to do to apply?

You can apply using the online application form.

You will need to complete the form in one session, and should allow an hour. You will need the following information to complete the application:

  • Course/activity name
  • Course/ activity provider name
  • Course/ activity location
  • Course/ activity dates
  • Course/ activity costs
  • Employer name and address
  • AHPRA registration number
  • Up to 100 words describing how the course will assist you in addressing an identified community health need
  • Up to 50 words describing how you will increase your skills and use the increased skill in servicing your community
  • Up to 50 words describing how you will increase your capacity to provide health services
  • Up to 50 words describing how your scope of practice will be increased in your current role

Applications for Round 1 are open until 5pm on Monday 23 September 2019.
