Rural Telehealth Support Grant

RDWA has established the Rural Telehealth Support Grant as part of its support for rural primary health services as they respond to the demands caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moving services to telehealth platforms has been an integral and important part of maintaining community access to general practice and primary health care services during a time of unprecedented challenges to the private primary health care sector.

The Rural Telehealth Support Grant provides an opportunity for private general practices and private allied health services to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to offset costs associated to providing telehealth services.

In recognition of the rapid actions that were necessary from the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, grants will be available to offset costs incurred from 1 March 2020.

Private primary health care practices in Modified Monash Model (MMM) 2-7 (2019) that have or intend to develop telehealth models to delivery primary health care services can apply for a Rural Telehealth Support Grant.

Eligible activities include infrastructure items that increase capacity of the organisation to deliver telehealth services to patients in rural SA, for example:

  • Purchase and development of clinic infrastructure, systems and processes to support the roll out of telehealth consultations; or
  • Purchase of hardware items such as webcams, iPads and laptops to support delivery of telehealth services.

Applicants will be asked to address the selection criteria, including their ability to undertake activities promptly to increase the SA primary health care sector’s ability to support patients through telehealth service models.
