Ride Along Program

The RDWA-RFDS Ride Along Program has been postponed due to COVID-19 Restrictions. If you have a Ride-Along scheduled the Future Workforce team will be in touch with you shortly with more information. If you haven’t yet heard from the team you can contact them for more information on futureworkforce@ruraldoc.com.au . We look forward to resuming the program as soon as possible.

Ride-Along is an observational attachment with the Royal Flying Doctor Service which provides eligible medical and nursing students a great experience of rural health care in South Australia.

RDWA and RFDS have partnered to provide this experience to more than 1,000 students during the past 20 years.

The one-day attachment occurs on a weekend, and interested students are invited to attend one of several orientation sessions held at the RFDS Base throughout the year.

Medical or nursing students who are in Years 1 or 2 enrolled in the following courses and who are members of their University’s Rural Health Club can contact their Club to request attendance at the session:

  • The University of Adelaide - Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery OR  Bachelor of Nursing AND Member of AURHA;
  • University of South Australia - Bachelor of Nursing AND Member of ROUSTAH;
  • Flinders University – Doctor of Medicine OR Bachelor of Nursing AND Member of FURHS.
