RFDS and RDWA are delighted that the Ride Along Program has recommenced after it was suspended due to COVID.
Ride Along provides first and second year medicine, nursing and midwifery students at South Australia’s universities the opportunity to ‘ride along’ on an RFDS flight.
Joining the RFDS for a one-day observational attachment, you will have the opportunity to shadow and observe a day in the life of a RFDS flight nurse.
This program has been changing hearts and minds for more than 20 years, and for many is the foundational experience that influences the doctors, nurses and midwives of tomorrow to choose rural careers.
The RFDS-RDWA Ride-Along is a unique opportunity to truly experience the breadth of rural health care in South Australia.
Each of the three universities is allocated a dedicated period during which time eligible students can be offered a Saturday or Sunday flight.
Applications are opened for each university at different times of the year.
Currently, we are calling for applications from students at Flinders University.

You will be advised of the outcome of the application by Tuesday 5 July 2022, one week prior to the orientation session.
If you are offered a place on Ride Along, you will be required to also meet RFDS participation consents and declarations.
If you meet the eligibility criteria apply now for your opportunity to join this valuable experience.
